time for some updating....since it's been a few months... haha..

~ going on staff again w/ ivcf this coming school year in a very very very bad place... u of michigan!!!  booo....  thankfully, i'll be working at a branch campus in Detroit.

but in all honesty, i'm excited to work with the fellowship here.  it's a bit different from the OSU crowd... a commuter school, a for-real-actually-multi-ethnic group... with a pretty big Muslim population at the school.  and i'm staffing it allllll by myself.

my students are crazy, hyper, and hilarious.  they also caked me and stole my OSU hoodie.  but true to osu style, i got them back pretty well.

i'm thankful for my opportunities... excited to be part of God's work on campus... and also fundraising.  if anyone is interested in hearing more... email me!

~ also working part-time @ starbucks for fun.  i love meeting/working with people that deviate from the normal white-collar-corporate-uppermiddle-class group. free coffee is fun too.

~ teaching middle school sunday school @ my church w/ jason... quite a riot... since we have all boys and one girl.  they crack me up... cuz they CANNOT sit still.

been thinking/reflecting a lot about my community, or lack thereof.  i've decided that i really strongly dislike the post-college lifestyle.  it's so hard to hangout with people....

missing my roomies & buckeyes...

okay okay okay!  i will update my blog.  this is for you (ewin & ang).

happy new year, everyone!  tee hee... i'm a bit late.  but then again, i'm always late.  haha.

let's see... what have i been doing?

went to cleveland for christmas, jason got really really sick, played with family and friends, my brother got really really sick, drove to cbus to visit the in-laws, hung out with fun people in cbus, i got really really sick, parents and bro came down to cbus, and parents got really really sick, and finally decided to drive back to detroit to escape all the sickness.

besides that, i've been...

-updating jason's closet.  he used to only have clothes that were blue, blue, or blue, but now ... he has stripes!  (and not all of them are blue.)

-reading and writing a lot.  here's a list of some of them:  accidental asian by eric liu, harry potter 6 harry potter 6 harry potter 6  , slow man by j.m. coetzee, yell-oh girls by vicki nam, great gatsby by fitzgerald, music of the dolphins and witness by karen hesse, and currently reading kurt vonnegut's welcome to the monkey house.

-playing with people from my new church.  i really like my new church.  it is diverse in every possible way... race, culture, economic/social status, metropolitan & inner city, senior citizens/married couples/singles/babies.  the only thing that was missing from their church were asians.  =D  jason and i are their token chinese.  hahahaha.  and their worship leader has the most amazing voice ever... she rocks!  you should all come visit so you can come to my church.

-learning to cook!  it's really fun.  the other day, i made pork chops.  they were actually yummy.  you can ask jason.    i think he's still alive...

-volunteering at Mercy Education Project, an organization that helps women and girls in inner city Detroit.  i love it!

i met a woman today from Jamaica that is studying to get her GED.  i usually tutor women in grammar, writing and reading... but today, they were short on math tutors, so i had to teach fractions!  BLAH!   i mean, i know HOW to do fractions... but to teach fractions?!?    haha... but we eventually figured it out together.  numerator is the number on top....yadda yadda yadda....

and here are pictures!

this is Zach.  he's almost 4.

this is Ethan.  he just turned 2. for those of you who were at the wedding, they were the little boys that rode down the hill in the red wagons.  aren't my cousin's kids so cute???  i want to eat both of them.

family time!  making dumplings for Christmas dinner.

january is such a fun month.  i think we have people coming to visit us almost every weekend.    any takers for the month of february or march????  you know you wanna!

the end!

i love this book.  if you're asian american, you should definitely read this!

i absolutely hate auto maintenance places.  they are so unfriendly to women.

i just called around fifty kajillion auto places to get prices on new brakes...and every time i hung up, i felt like i just narrowly escaped being ripped off.

grrrrrrrr.
